College of the Canyons, located 35 miles north of downtown Los Angeles in the beautiful Santa Clarita Valley, is seeking a Campus Safety Officer professional to join our team.
Position Description:
The Campus Safety Officer is under direction of the Director, Campus Safety, patrols campus buildings; protects individuals and controls crowds during assemblies or disturbances; investigates and prepares written reports on accidents, property damage, fires, law violations, thefts, and disturbances of the peace; gathers evidence and interviews witnesses; testifies in court as necessary; guards property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry; gives information and directs the public; assists in the orientation of District personnel regarding security measures. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience:
Two years of experience as a law enforcement officer.
Education:
Completion of the twelfth grade (or equivalent), supplemented by training or coursework in public safety, security and patrol methods and procedures.
Licenses/Certificates:
California Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Certificate, Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver’s license, and Possession of (or ability to obtain within probationary period) CPR and First Aid certificates.
Must be free of any felony convictions.
