Position Description:


Under supervision of the Director, Campus Safety, the Campus Safety Officer patrols campus buildings; protects individuals and controls crowds during assemblies or disturbances; responsible to carry non-lethal weapons while on-duty and use non-lethal weapons when necessary; investigates and prepares written reports on accidents, property damage, fires, law violations, thefts, and disturbances of the peace; gathers evidence and interviews witnesses; testifies in court as necessary; guards property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry; gives information and directs the public; and assists in the orientation of District personnel regarding security measures. Performs other related duties as assigned.
 


Minimum Requirements:
 

Experience:


Two (2) years of active law enforcement experience required.


Education:


Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by training or coursework in public safety, security and patrol methods and procedures.

 


Licenses/Certificates:

  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

  • Guard Registration from Bureau of Security & Investigative Services.

  • Basic Certificate issued by the State of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.)

  • First Aid and C.P.R. certifications must be obtained with probationary period.

  • All licenses/certifications (except P.O.S.T.) must be maintained throughout course of employment.
