Application Deadline: 6/15/09
Organization:
LAPD Devonshire Police Activity League (Devonshire PALS) is dedicated to developing character in youth and reducing juvenile crime. Working in concert with the Devonshire Area of the LAPD, the organization provides after-school programs for at-risk children and teens that build strong, positive relationships between youth and law enforcement officers. It is the responsibility of Devonshire PALS to raise funds and administer the program, while the LAPD provides officers to plan programs and work directly with the children. Devonshire PALS recently raised $3.4 million to construct a youth center in Northridge (to open fall 2009).
Basic Assignment:
As PALS programs grow and the operation of a youth center becomes more demanding, the Board wishes to hire its first full-time staff member. Reporting to the PALS Board President, this position will work hand-in-hand with the Board to raise funds, provide office administration, maintain the new center, and conduct community relations activities. Implementation and oversight of the programs are the sole responsibility of the LAPD.
