Applications are invited for the post of:

INTELLIGENCE ANALYST

Joint Intelligence Unit (JIU)

SALARY RANGE:

CI $42,564 - $57,252 PER ANNUM

The successful candidate will conduct research and perform analysis of criminal information received by Investigation Units within the RCIPS relating to criminal activities and relationships; work with Intelligence Officers who gather information by field observation, confidential information sources and public records.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Manage and direct the analytical process, prioritize all analytical demands and be responsible for the function of the Intelligence Researcher;

• Identify and analyze patterns in crime to establish links between crime and offenders;

• Identify and develop a problem solving approach to community issues/problems in an effort to generate community support to assist in operational policing;

• Performs telephone and record analysis to determine the size and location of criminal groups and individuals involved;

• Conduct intelligence driven briefings, tasking and de-briefing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• It is essential for the post holder to have knowledge of research methods and techniques with the ability to communicate effectively with good presentation skills.

• The candidate must be able to read, analyze, interpret and evaluate research findings and prepare graphs, charts, tables etc.

• In addition, they must have a minimum of 1 years’ experience working in a statistical/analytical environment or in a criminal analyst role, and be educated to ‘A’ level standard or possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Public/Business Administration or Criminal Justice or related field.

• Applicant must be familiar with the National Intelligence Model (NIM) or other problem orientated policing.
