North Suburban Emergency Communications Center

North Suburban Emergency Communications Center, a fully civilianized multi-jurisdictional center located in Des Plaines, receives and dispatches police, fire and emergency medical calls.

Duties involve the operation of the 9-1-1 emergency system, computer-aided dispatch system, sophisticated radio and telephone networks.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Education and experience equivalent to a high school degree

Ability to speak clear articulate English

Full range of hearing in both ears

Type accurately

Must posses a valid Illinois driver's license

Must be 21 years of age at time of application

This 32 hour/week position supports a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation and applicants must have the desire and ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Desirable qualifications:

Previous experience in public-safety dispatching

Multi-line telephone equipment

On-line CRT data entry or fast paced customer service

Flexibility and multi-tasking are paramount

Minimum current Part-time salary is $22.09 - $31.87/hour

+ complete fringe benefits package

Applicants must successfully pass a position compatibility profile, aptitude exams, keystroke/typing test, job simulation exercises, oral interview board, as well as an extensive background investigation, criminal history check, psychological evaluation, polygraph and drug test.
