Full–Time Shift Supervisor


The West Suburban Consolidated Dispatch Center (WSCDC) is currently accepting applications for the position of full-time Shift Supervisor.  WSCDC answers calls and dispatches Police, Fire and Ambulance for the Villages of Oak Park, River Forest, and Elmwood Park.

Training and Experience Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent, with completion of some college level supervisory and/or management courses

  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in performing public safety (police, fire and EMS) dispatching duties, which include telephone-complaint taking duties in a mid-size urban or metropolitan setting

  • Experience involving either a Computer Aided Dispatch System or enhanced 9-1-1 telephone system

  • Experience as a training officer or part of a training team


Applicants must:

  • Be able to type a minimum of 35wpm

  • Successfully pass a written examination, criminal background check, drug, alcohol, hearing tests, personality screening

  • Be able to obtain full access LEADS and Emergency Medical Dispatch certification


Full-time Shift Supervisor salary begins at $59,622, which is 10% over the top salary step for full-time Telecommunicator.  Pay increases are based on performance thereafter.  Full-time Supervisors work 40 hours per week.

These are some items that will also be required in addition to those duties listed in the Job/Position Description for the full-time Shift Supervisor: 

  1. Supervisors will be required to rotate shifts as needed and determined by the Executive Director and Deputy Director.

  2. Seniority shall be based on date of  supervisory appointment.

  3. Supervisors may be subject to a day off group change as needed.

  4. Will accumulate 11 Holidays and up to 3 Paid Administrative Leave days.

  5. Prior authorization for overtime must be approved by the Director and/or Deputy Director, and must demonstrate justification.

  6. No more than one supervisor shall be on vacation at a time, and will be picked based on seniority. 

  7. Supervisors shall attend monthly staff meetings unless excused by the Executive or Deputy Director.

  8. Supervisors are not part of the collective bargaining unit.
