The Human Resources Division of the Village of Addison is accepting applications for an opening for the at-will, non-exempt, part-time position of Investigative Aide in the Village of Addison Police Department. The position works on a part-time basis, no more than 29 hours in a work-week. Working under general supervision, the Aide engages in a variety of investigative and administrative duties to assist the Criminal Investigations Unit in support areas, both in the station and in the field, that do not require physical arrest.



Examples of the position’s duties include,

but are not limited to:

  • Victim/witness courtesy contacts, investigative interviews, computer inquiries and miscellaneous field work; work with the States Attorney’s office and all law enforcement agencies.

  • Conduct the initial phase of identity theft investigations and deceptive practice cases.

  • Assist members of the Criminal Investigations Unit, i.e. subpoena requests and prepare documents as needed; type complaints and prepare necessary forms for cases requiring prosecution; supply States Attorney’s office with background information and give relevant testimony in court as required.

  • Fingerprints applicants applying for a liquor license and perform background investigations.


Successful candidates should possess:

  • A high school diploma or GED Certificate

  • A minimum of twenty (20) years police/law enforcement experience, including experience in an investigative unit

  • A valid Class ‘D’ Illinois Driver’s License free from incidence that may result in license revocation or suspension


The minimum starting hourly rate for this position is:


$32.60 plus a very competitive benefit package
