The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Alsip is now accepting applications for the position of Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic.


Testing is being conducted to establish an Eligibility List for anticipated hiring needs.


The Alsip Fire Departmentís mission is to provide timely, professional, safe, and cost-effective emergency service for the preservation of life and property. The Alsip Fire Department is committed to provide ďState of the ArtĒ patient care, fire suppression, fire prevention, and public education.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Driverís License:  Must possess a valid Driverís License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driverís License upon time of hire

  • Age Requirements:  Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (4/11/18).  Applicants must be under the age of 35 years at the time of testing (4/28/18) and at such time as the final eligibility list is posted unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2. 1-6 which provides, in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a full-time firefighter in a regularly constituted fire department of any municipality or fire protection district located in Illinois

  • Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language fluently

  • Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1.6

  • Certifications and Training:  At the time of application, the applicant MUST be certified as an EMT-P and certified as a Firefighter Basic or Firefighter (II) by the Illinois Fire Marshal's Office or have proof of completion of Basic Operations Firefighter Academy (NIPSTA Only)

  • Residence:  All firefighters shall reside within the State of Illinois within six (6) months of completion of their probation

  • CPAT Card:  Must possess a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) Certification with Ladder Climb Exercise at the time of application, MUST have been issued between the dates of 4/11/17 and 4/11/18
