Village of Barrington Hills Police Department

is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for





  • U.S. Citizenship

  • No Felony Convictions (or Convictions for Certain Misdemeanors)

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and Minimum of 30 Credit Hours from an Accredited College or University or an Associate’s Degree in any field.

  • Legally Eligible to Operate a Motor Vehicle in Illinois (at time of employment)

  • Have vision correctable to 20/20

  • Pass a Written Examination

  • Pass a Physical Agility Examination (POWER Test)



  • Full service Municipal Policing

  • Enforcement of State and Local Laws

  • Prepare written reports on assigned tasks and attend court and testify when necessary.

  • Community Policing, assist and render aid to citizens, conduct building checks and investigate suspicious persons, vehicles, noises, etc.

  • Uniform Patrol, traffic control, motor vehicle assists and traffic crash investigations.

  • Normal work schedule is 12 hours shifts (6am to 6pm or 6pm to 6am)



  • STARTING SALARY for police officers is $65,337.78

  • Uniform, firearm, soft body armor and leather equipment issued

  • Paid Vacation

  • Paid Sick Time

  • Ability to earn compensatory time

  • Tuition reimbursement

  • Stanard & Associates will administer a Written Examination on October 16, 2018

  • Applicants must possess a POWER Test Identification Card issued by Northwestern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA), Joliet Community College, or Triton Community College for registration and test dates. The POWER Test card requirement will be waived for currently employed law enforcement officers.

  • Candidates successfully passing the written examination will placed on an initial eligibility list and will continue in the Village’s assessment process as vacancies become available. This includes an oral interview, background, polygraph, medical and psychological exam after a conditional offer of employment.
