All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of Bartlett:

  • U.S. citizenship

  • No felony convictions

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Illinois driver's license

  • Minimum of 21 years of age at time of application; be UNDER 35 years of age as of date of hire, unless otherwise exempt by Statute

  • No residency requirement

  • Previous Bartlett Police Department applicants are eligible to re-apply

  • All employees are expected to present a professional appearance. Body piercing, other than ear piercing, must not be visible. Visible tattoos, intentional branding and/or scarring are prohibited while wearing a short-sleeved uniform without additional bandages, makeup or clothing.

  • Restrictions are also in place for hair styles, facial hair, and any facial modifications that deviate from conventional anatomical features such as earlobe gauges, subdermal implants, tongue piercing, etc.

  • $35.00 non-refundable application processing fee

  • Application Deadline: 5/17/18 4:00 PM CST

A maximum of 5 Preference Points will be awarded as determined by the Village of Bartlett for the following:

  • Military Experience: Active duty U.S. military service members with an un-redacted Honorable Discharge.  DD-214 may be submitted with application to qualify.

  • College Degree: Candidates must have successfully obtained an Associate’s Degree in the field of law enforcement or criminal justice; or a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Transcripts (official preferred) or copy of diploma must be submitted with application to qualify. Official transcripts will be required at the Background Investigation stage.

  • Current Illinois Law Enforcement Officers: Persons awarded a certificate attesting to the successful completion of the Minimum Standards Basic Law Enforcement Training Course as provided in the Illinois Police Training Act and are currently serving as a law enforcement officer on a part-time or full-time basis within the State of Illinois. A copy of your certificate must be submitted with the application to qualify.
