Deputy Police Chief of Administration

 

 

The City of Batavia, Illinois is seeking applicants for the position of Deputy Police Chief of Administration. Batavia is a vibrant, politically stable, full-service city, located along the beautiful Fox River, 40 miles west of Chicago. The Batavia Police Department is authorized 40 full-time police officers. The Deputy Chief position is the second in command and directly reports to the Chief of Police.

 

Work requires the application of advanced knowledge and abilities in the planning and execution of management assignments. Performs operational, administrative and maintenance tasks related to each shift or affecting the entire department as assigned by the Chief.  Work is performed with considerable independence within the framework of established policies, governing laws, and departmental rules and regulations.  Directs, supervises, and coordinates Administrative Divisionís activities; plans, assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of subordinate supervisors and records management specialists; ensures adherence to rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; monitors demands for service; adjusts resource deployment accordingly; recommends policy and disciplinary actions as required. Reviews officer reports and records to identify reporting deficiencies, to keep abreast of individual performance and to identify trends or cases requiring additional action; confers with subordinates for the purpose of resolving administrative or operational problems, interprets new or revised rules and regulations, or explains new methods and procedures. Serves as the Chief of Police in the latterís absence.

 

A combination of education and experience is required for this rewarding and challenging position. Graduation from four-year college with a bachelorís degree or coursework in criminal justice, police science or a related field; considerable experience as a supervisory officer in police work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of union relations is required.

 

 

Salary Range:

 

$85,117 - $117,362, depending on qualifications
