THIS IS A CIVILIAN NON-SWORN POSITION

 

 

The Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of full-time Community Service Officer.

 

This position will report to the Deputy Chief of Administration or designated employee.

 

 

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Code enforcement

  • Writing parking tickets

  • Coordinating towing of abandoned vehicles

  • Assisting the public

  • Investigating criminal and non-threatening complaints

  • Investigating auto accidents on private property

  • Traffic direction

  • Assisting vehicle owners with lockouts

 

Other duties include:

  • Animal control

  • Capture of wild and domestic animals

  • Making delivering and picking up bank deposits

  • Assisting with fingerprinting and child safety seat installations

  • Other assigned duties

 

Starting Pay:

 

$19.46 per hour ($40,476.80 annually)

pursuant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Qualified applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of related experience or equivalent.

  • Position requires LEADS certification and the possession of a valid Illinois driverís license.

  • Eagerness to serve the citizens of the community is essential.

  • The applicant should possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • The position requires the ability to lift and move various materials or objects which may be heavy.

  • The applicant must be able to work under conditions that require exposure to environmental factors, wildlife, and traffic hazards.

  • An applicant must be available to work various assigned shifts, including any mandatory overtime.

  • The position may also require working on weekends and holidays.
