The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Broadview is now accepting applications for the position of Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic.


Testing is being conducted to establish an Eligibility List for anticipated hiring needs.


The Broadview Fire Department continues to be a premier fire department due to the commitment and devotion to duty of its members. The entire department team is dedicated to providing the best life safety and emergency services.


The Broadview Fire Department averages over 2,900 emergency calls annually. These calls range from emergency medical services, structure fires, hazardous materials incidents, technical rescues, and other life-threatening emergencies. They also handle numerous calls for non-threatening activities.


It is the department's goal to reduce and control fire losses in the village, through an aggressive and comprehensive program of Fire Prevention, Public Education, Fire Suppression, and Training. The Broadview Fire Department has, in all cases, succeeded in implementing programs to answer these challenges while remaining focused on its main goal of protecting life and property. Training their personnel to meet these challenges will continue to be a high priority.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Driverís License:  Must possess a valid Driverís License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver's License upon time of hire

  • Age Requirement:  Applicants MUST have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (1/10/18). Applicants must be under the age of 35 years at the time of testing (1/27/18) unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2. 1-6 which provides, in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a full-time firefighter in a regularly constituted fire department of any municipality or fire protection district located in Illinois

  • Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement

  • Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6

  • Certifications and Training:  The applicant MUST be certified as an EMT-P by the State of Illinois at the time of application 1/10/18. Must be approved to function in the Loyola University Medical Center EMS System at time of appointment

  • Residence: The Village of Broadview does not have a residency requirement at this time

  • CPAT Card: Must possess a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) Certification with Ladder Climb Exercise at the time of application, MUST have been issued between the dates of 1/10/17 and 1/10/18
