The City of Champaign Police Department
is seeking a diverse group of men and women who are committed to serving the
community to apply for a career as a Police Officer. Previous experience is not
required. Excellent opportunities to undertake a variety of police duties, to

Applications to test for the position of Police Officer will be accepted August 10, 2008 – September 12, 2008.
To apply, you must be 21 years old as
of February 23, 2009, a high school graduate or its equivalent, and have no
felony convictions. The testing process includes an orientation session,
entry-level written examination, physical abilities test and oral interview.
Practice sessions are offered to help you prepare for the written and physical
tests. The starting salary for a Probationary Police Officer is $48,289 plus benefits.
The salary increases after the successful completion of a 15-month probationary
period to $52,574.
