Part-Time Community Service Officer



The Village of Clarendon Hills, population 8,427, seeks candidates for the position of Community Service Officer.


The Community Service Officer (CSO) serves responsible municipal law enforcement work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of ordinance and the performance of other duties that do not require physical arrest, or relate to a crime in progress.


Work involves responsibility for protecting life and property, responding to non-criminal complaints and enforcing ordinances. An employee of this class may be assigned to duties involving traffic control, parking enforcement, vehicle and building lockouts, and other duties that do not require a higher level of training and expertise. Work is normally performed without direct supervision, and an individual must be able to exercise independent judgment in meeting various situations. Work is reviewed and evaluated by a superior through reports, observations and discussions.


An ideal candidate would have excellent communication, and customer service skills, and be knowledgeable of modern police practices, local ordinances, and regional geography.  A high school degree (or GED) is required.


This is a part-time position, working 28 hours per week.



Pay Range:


$21.84 per hour to $29.12 per hour


An offer will be made to the preferred candidate based on their current pay and qualifications.
