Criminal Justice Faculty



College of DuPage seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member to join a dynamic program in Criminal Justice committed to being a national leader in the discipline. The successful candidate will be firmly engaged in the Homeland Security and Criminal Justice field through education and/ or practical experience and proven research. The ideal candidate will possess a commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level. Responsibilities include teaching a range of introductory and topic-specific courses supporting the program's initiatives in law enforcement, homeland security, corrections and related areas of criminal justice as well as fostering increased interdisciplinary relations throughout the college.

The College of DuPage's Criminal Justice Program is a regionally recognized leader in the discipline and possesses numerous links to other educational institutions, as well as strong ties to local, state and federal agencies. The College is also in the midst of construction on a new, 60,000 square foot Homeland Security Education Center (HEC) building to house Criminal Justice and related programs.

The usual teaching load is five courses per semester and faculty are expected to teach both in their primary areas of interest as well as foundation courses. Additional duties include advising students, curriculum development and committee work. Opportunities exist to teach a flexible schedule that may include teaching assignments days, evenings, weekends and online.



Job Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security or a related field is required or a J.D. combined with five years of practical experience in Homeland Security.

  • Evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level is also required.

  • Experience with technology-enhanced teaching approaches or online education is a plus.


This position is available August, 2011.



Starting salaries are dependent on education and experience but normally range from $49,797 - $69,589 for a two semester academic year. College of DuPage also offers a generous benefits plan.
