Job Summary:


The Volunteer Coordinator, under the supervision of the Executive Director of Community Programs, is responsible for the development and implementation of volunteer programs according to the needs of the 19th Judicial Circuit and Adult and Juvenile Court Services, including Volunteer Probation Support and Group Reporting Program. The Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training and supervision of the probation support volunteers and the assignment of volunteers to appropriate opportunities. The Coordinator, along with Court Services, plans, develops and evaluates support programs and determines changes as needed.



Required Qualification:

  1. Bachelors degree

  2. Computer literate word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and e-mail systems including Outlook

  3. Valid Driverís license with access to vehicle to move around the county

  4. Demonstrated understanding of criminal justice in Lake County or others

  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills


Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.


Must be able to continuously sit and interact with public (internal/external). Able to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, lift 0-50 lbs., lift 50+ lbs., carry 0-50 lbs., carry 50+ lbs., and push 0-300 lbs.



Desired Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice or related field

  2. Understanding of the probation system

  3. Familiar with the operations of the 19th Circuit Court or others


Special Instructions Summary:


If selected for an interview candidates will be asked to Prepare a 5-7 minute presentation using PowerPoint on your understanding of the Probation Support Volunteer Program in partnership with the 19th Circuit Court and the College of Lake County.
