The Board of Police Commissioners for the Village of Glen Carbon is now accepting applications for the position of: Police Officer

The goal of the Glen Carbon Police Department is to establish, maintain, and enhance the public peace and engage the public in a partnership to provide an atmosphere free from tension, strife and fear, to enhance the public sense of well being.  The Glen Carbon Police Department adheres to the community oriented policing philosophy.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.

  • Age Requirement:  Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday and be under the age of 35 years old at the last date of filing applications (03/05/15) and at such time as the Initial Eligibility List is posted, unless they have been certified as a full-time police officer in the United States, or are otherwise exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.

  • Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.

  • Residence:  At this time there are no stated requirements for residency declared by the Village of Glen Carbon

  • Testing:  Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing

All individuals meeting eligibility requirements are encouraged to continue with the application process.

Orientation – 8:30 AM


 P.O.W.E.R. Test immediately following Orientation


Written Examination immediately following the P.O.W.E.R. Test





Testing will be at a local school or at the Police Department


Applicants will be notified once location is established
