The Village of Glendale Heights has a position available for a full-time Telecommunicator in the Police Department Communications Center.

 

Performs a variety of routine clerical, administrative and technical functions in receiving and dispatching routine and emergency information, keeping official records, and assisting in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the Communications Center.

 

Monitors telephone and radio, answers all incoming calls and ascertains nature of call, gathers all necessary information to transmit or relay. Dispatches police and other response vehicles for emergency responses. Performs matron duties.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Two years of Police Telecommunications experience is desired for this position

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Good oral and written communications skills

  • Typing skills of 35 WPM

  • Ability to effectively respond to emergency situations

  • Two years of increasing responsible experience or an equivalent combination of related education and experience

 

This position works primarily 8:00 pm to 4:00 am, with frequent 11:00 pm to 7:00 am shifts. Position with occasional duties on other shifts as well.

 

 

Hourly Rate:

 

$20.70 - $28.68/hour

commensurate with qualifications and experience
