The Village of Glenview is seeking part-time 911 Public Safety Dispatchers to add to its call-back pool. The Dispatch Center is the primary answering point and dispatch center for the Village of Glenview wire line and wireless emergency and non-emergency calls for law enforcement, fire and EMS. The Dispatch Center also provides dispatch services for other municipalities, including the Village of Grayslake. 

The primary purpose of a dispatcher is to answer and process emergency 911 and non-emergency calls for service via computer aided dispatch system, which is accomplished by answering incoming phones calls, gathering information about the request or emergency, providing information, entering the data, and dispatching personnel.  Additional duties include monitoring equipment, researching computer records for information, updating and maintaining computer files and databases, answering routine questions, and completing general office duties.  Part-time “pool” dispatchers are used to cover scheduled shift work as well as covering shifts on an as-needed basis. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirements include:

• High School degree or equivalent, with a minimum of one (1) year of related experience

• EMD, LEADS, and New World CAD certification preferred

• Successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and sense of duty and responsibility, and be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

• Attention to detail and ability to work successfully with other team members is a must

• Successful candidate must be willing to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

SALARY:

$21.00 - 25.00/hour DOQ, no benefits
