The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Glenwood is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.


Testing is being conducted for hiring needs and to establish a new eligibility list for future hiring.


The Glenwood Police Department is committed to creating and maintaining a professional and community oriented police service.  The Department is equipped and trained to handle many types of emergency situations.  Glenwood is located about 23 miles south of the Chicago Loop.  Glenwood is a quiet community with tree-lined streets; the Village is surrounded by forest preserves.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Driverís License:  Must possess a valid Driverís License with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driverís License upon time of hire.

  • Age requirement:  Applicants must have attained their 21st Birthday at the last date for filing applications 02/11/16, and must be under the age of 35 at time of application and at such time as the Final Eligibility List is posted, unless has been certified and employed as a full-time Police Officer or unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.

  • Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement AND shall have an Associateís Degree or at least 60 college credit hours towards a Bachelorís Degree from an accredited College or University OR military service with an honorable discharge OR has been certified as a full-time Police Officer by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board.

  • Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.

  • P.O.W.E.R. Card:  Must possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Card issued between the dates of 02/11/2015 and 02/11/16. (NIPSTA, Triton, Joliet Jr. College)

  • Residence:  At this time there is no stated requirements for residency declared by the Village of Glenwood.

  • Testing:  Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing.
