The Grayslake Police Department is hosting a

police officer candidate exam at:

The police department currently employs 31 full-time police officers, 7 part-time officers and 2 community service officers that handle nearly 30,000 calls per year. Grayslake Police currently serve the Village of Hainesville as part of a police services contract in effect since 2011. Patrol officers work a twelve-hour shift with alternating weekends off.

 

 

Current starting pay for a Grayslake Police Officer:

 

$61,396 per year

The Grayslake Police Department is a nationally accredited agency through CALEA, (Commission for Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies). The police department is data driven, but with an emphasis on the community and its specific challenges. The department is managed by a chief, deputy chief, 3 commanders and 4 sergeants.


After hire and with significant department training and experience an officer may move on to such assignments as; evidence technician, criminal investigator, NIPAS Mobile Field Force (Civil Unrest Team), NIPAS Emergency Services Team, (SWAT), Lake County Major Crimes Task Force, Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, Lake County Gang Unit, (gang and organized crime specialists), Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group, (drug enforcement specialists).

 

 

To take the police officer candidate eligibility exam and become part of our team, you must be:

  • 21 years of age and less than 35 years of age at time of application

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED

  • Possess a power test card from NIPSTA or other ILETSB (Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board) Certified physical testing facility with a date no earlier than 12/23/16 (test cannot be older than 9 months prior to the date of exam)

  • Complete and submit ALL necessary paperwork, (including military docs, copies of birth certificates, power test card and school transcripts along with ANY other paperwork or copies specified in the application packet) no later than 8/18/17 at noon
