 Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 21 years of age; less than 35 years of age at time of application

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • An Associate's (or 60 semester hours or more of college credits) or Bachelor's Degree in any field from an accredited college or university

  • Possess a valid driverís license

  • Have at least 20/70 vision correctable to 20/20

  • No felony convictions or arrests/no misdemeanor convictions or arrest violations

  • Applicant must submit proof of successful completion of the Illinois Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (P.O.W.E.R.). Certification cards must show completion dated after April 1, 2014.  The cost of completing this test will be the responsibility of the applicant.

     

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Full service municipal policing enforcement of state and local laws

  • Prepare written reports on assigned tasks

  • Attend court and testify when necessary

  • Community policing

  • Assist and render aid to citizens

  • Conduct building checks

  • Investigate suspicious persons, vehicles, noises, etc.

  • Uniform patrol

  • Traffic control

  • Motor vehicle assists

  • Traffic crash investigations

 

Benefits:

  • Starting salary $47,133.00 with the opportunity to earn $57,375.00 after 12 months, and $71,885.00 after 3 years

Applicants must attend MANDATORY orientation meeting at Village of Harwood Heights on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.

 

Candidate applications will be reviewed and the candidates deemed most qualified will be invited to continue in the villageís assessment process, to include a written examination, polygraph examination, background check, oral interview, psychological examination, drug testing and medical examination.

 

The written test will be given on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 9:00 AM
