ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain high visibility
on campus locations; act professionally and exhibit a pleasant personality in

and visitors; create a customer friendly environment; make suggestions to
improve customer service.
Monitor the campus for
building and patron safety; advise appropriate personnel of situations and/or
take appropriate actions. Ask unauthorized individuals to leave the
building/grounds; advise on parking violations.
Open and close the
buildings, individual offices and classrooms and other rooms; report and lock

vehicles upon request; assist with jump starting disabled vehicles, locked keys

Make routine patrols of
parking areas and advise on lighting, overnight vehicles, parking violations and

Monitor ingress and
egress of the campus; question patrons regarding removal of property from

Respond to all requests
for assistance and emergency calls. In emergency situations assist campus and
local police and fire authorities.
Serve as a trainer and
mentor for new Campus Safety Officer; assist in the training of evacuation plan
sector leaders. Assess training efforts and advise on areas of improvement
during post training analysis.
Cross train to work
dispatch center. Process emergency requests for service and dispatch emergency
police, fire and other public safety equipment.
Participate in achieving
departmental and college goals and objectives.
Assume other duties as
Must be 18 years of age
and have a High School diploma or equivalent.
Must pass a complete
personal and criminal background check.
Must have a valid
driver’s license and be able to operate cars and 15 passenger vans.
Must be able to walk
stairs and conduct prolonged foot patrol indoors and out in all weather
Must be able to assist
with the rescue of injured or ill persons or the arrest of criminal offenders.
Must be able to work
varying shifts at all Joliet Junior College campuses.
Must be willing to be
trained in CPR, AED, first aid and other emergency response as needed.
May be required to
cross-train to operate the Dispatch Center.

security and personal safety such as crime prevention and reporting, police law
enforcement authority, disciplinary procedures and other related security
policies. They also contain information about crime statistics for the three
previous years for all JJC campuses, property owned and controlled by JJC
District 525 and on public property immediately adjacent to JJC campuses.
