Assistant Professor/Program Coordinator -

Law Enforcement

 

 

DESCRIPTION:

 

Responsible for program coordination as well as teaching classes in the law enforcement program.  Reports directly to the Associate Dean of Business and Technology.

 

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Selects and reviews educational strategies and materials to facilitate learning in the law enforcement program.

  2. Prepares and reviews course objectives and provides students with a syllabus for each course taught. 

  3. Meets classes as scheduled by the college and maintains office hours as stated in the KCC Faculty Handbook.

  4. Assesses student learning at the course, program and general education levels. 

  5. Evaluates student performance and maintains. attendance and grade records for assigned classes.

  6. Prepares and administers proficiency examinations in law enforcement as directed by the Associate Dean. 

  7. Provides students with additional or advisory help on an individual basis.

  8. Participate in curriculum and course development as directed by the Associate Dean.

  9. Completes reports, requests, and records as directed by the Associate Dean.

  10. Communicates regularly with Associate Dean regarding instructional concerns in the law enforcement area.

  11. Represents and interprets the law enforcement program to schools and the community at available opportunities, including special recruitment efforts with area high schools. 

  12. Functions as an academic advisor to the law enforcement students and assists in registration.

  13. Participates in the faculty evaluation and in service development activities.

  14. Participates in division and faculty meetings.

  15. Assists the Associate Dean in the recruitment and selection of part time instructors in the law enforcement area.

  16. Provides course materials and assistance to part-time instructors as requested by the Associate Dean.

  17. Serves on college committees.

  18. Functions as the program coordinator for the law enforcement curriculum.

  19. Sponsors the law enforcement citizens advisory committee. 

  20. Assists in budget preparation for the law enforcement area.

  21. Specifies and orders supplies for the law enforcement courses.

  22. Assists the Director of Corporate and Career Services in identifying employment opportunities for law enforcement program graduates.

  23. Follows the policies and procedures of the college.

  24. Assists the Associate Dean in evaluating part-time instructors in law enforcement.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attends the commencement program.

  2. Performs other duties as may be assigned.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in criminal justice or law enforcement required.

  2. Minimum of 2,000 hours work experience in law enforcement required.

  3. Teaching experience desirable.

  4. Qualified candidate must be functionally literate in reading, writing, and computation skills as well as computer literate or willing to learn.

 

 

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

 

Full-time, tenure-track, to begin January, 2013.
