KenCom Public Safety Dispatch is a consolidated emergency communications center located in Kendall County.  KenCom is a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation currently serving thirteen Police, Fire, and EMS agencies in Kendall County.  KenCom is currently seeking 9-1-1 Telecommunicator applicants that have the desire to work in an exciting, challenging and rewarding career field.

 

 

Telecommunicator job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Answering 9-1-1 telephones

  • Transmitting vital information to emergency personnel via the radio

  • Relaying information via the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system

  • Answering administrative phone lines serving KenCom's member police and fire agencies

 

Telecommunicator Starting Salary Range:

 

$20.28 to $24.87 per hour based on experience

 

Additional benefits include an IMRF retirement plan as well as insurance packages for medical, dental, and life.

 

 

Applicant Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Must be able to accurately type at least 35 wpm

  • Must be able to pass the applicant testing, full police background investigation, psychological exam and drug/hearing/physical screenings

  • Schedule flexibility and multi-tasking are paramount

  • Must be able to work any of the three shifts, weekends and holidays along with overtime that may be mandatory

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a public safety environment, preferably in 9-1-1 dispatching

  • Experience with computer-based, multi-line telephone equipment

  • Computer/data entry experience
