Part-Time Police Officer
 


The Village of Kirkland Illinois is currently accepting applications from qualified individuals for the position of part-time Police Officer.


Applications will be accepted to establish a new Eligibility List for anticipated hiring needs.

 


The applicant will perform duties to include but not limited to:


Duties:

  • Enforcing traffic and criminal law, and local ordinances

  • Provide both emergency and non-emergency response/services

  • Write Police reports/issue citations when necessary

  • Attend monthly court as required

  • Be available for day/night/weekend shifts

 

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Driverís License:  Must have a valid IL driverís license in good standing

  • Age Requirements:  Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by date of application submittal

  • Education:  Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

  • Character:  Must have no felony or misdemeanor convictions and be of good moral character

  • Testing:  Must be able to participate and successfully complete all stages of the testing process

  • Residency:  Must reside within 35 miles of the Kirkland Police Department

  • Vision:  Eyesight must be correctable to 20/20, normal peripheral vision, no impairment of color blindness


Additional requirements:

  • Valid FOID card

  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays


MUST BE a graduate of one of either the full-time or part-time sworn officer Illinois training programs and be State of Illinois certified.
 


All qualified applicants will be required to:

  • Pass an oral interview

  • Pass a personal credit check

  • Pass a thorough background investigation

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening, and possibly a psychological evaluation after acceptance of appointment
