IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY A CERTIFIED CORRECTIONS OFFICER and looking for growth opportunities to enhance your career, the Lake County Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications for the position of Corrections Officer.

 

 

Salary:

 

$25.57/hour

(as determined by Teamsters Local 700)

 

 

The general function of the position within the organization is to perform complex work related to community protection, public safety, and victimís rights through the custodial supervision of sentenced individuals and pre-trial detainees utilizing direct supervision and innovative community-based management principles. The position is under moderate supervision. Duties include, but are not limited to, maintaining a safe environment for corrections staff and inmates. We strive to recruit the most qualified professionals. We employ the most current and highly regarded training, which reinforces preparation, adaptability, professionalism, ethics, dignity, respect and overall proficiency.

 

 

Required Skills:

 

YOU MUST BE CURRENTLY WORKING AS A FULL-TIME CORRECTIONS OFFICER.

  1. Available to work all shifts, including holidays and weekends.

  2. Currently employed as a Corrections Officer; and,

  3. Good standing in their department as of the date of certification by any State; and,

  4. Two years of full-time, continuous experience with the same Corrections Facility where currently employed, the definition of which includes, but is not limited to, authority to make arrest and carry firearms; and,

  5. Successfully completed Illinois Basic Corrections Officer Training which can be completed within 6 months of your hire date.

  6. Additional forms and documents will be emailed to all applicants that meet the minimum requirements after you have completed the on-line application.

In addition, when requested, you will be required to fill out a personal history statement and provide a copy of your birth certificate or naturalization, a copy of your high school diploma or GED, and a copy of your law enforcement certificate.
