The Village of Lake
Zurich has an immediate need for qualified candidates for the position of
Telecommunicator. Telecommunicators serve as the central coordination point
between emergency services and the public. They receive and respond to 911 calls
or other electronic requests for emergency assistance, including law
enforcement, fire, medical, and other emergency/non-emergency services. Lake
Zurich PSAP provides 24/7 service for Lake Zurich Police/Fire, Kildeer Police,
Hawthorn Woods Police, Island Lake Police, Tower Lakes Police and Wauconda
Receives complaints from
public concerning emergencies and non-emergencies.
Broadcasts orders to
appropriate personnel in vicinity to investigate complaints, and relays
instructions or questions from remote units.
Solicits information to
determine appropriate resources needed to respond to requests for service.
Monitors status of
dispatched assignments and units and coordinates all police, fire, EMS, public
works and other emergency requests, relaying instructions to radio units
Enters and retrieves
information using computer aided dispatch system (CAD).
certifications to provide Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD).
Receive requests for
information regarding vehicle registration, driving records, warrants and
additional data in accordance with LEADS policies, procedures and guidelines.
Maintains file records
Monitors burglar and
fire alarm systems to detect illegal entry and fires at businesses and

for this position is $25.06 - $26.12 per hour DOQ

Must be at least 18
years of age.
Must have a high school
diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to work an

Ability to split ear and

Ability to operate a
variety of office equipment.
Ability to prioritize a
large call volume and disseminate the information accurately and in a timely
manner during stressful situations.
Must be able to pass the
applicant testing, background investigation, medical exam, hearing test and drug
Must be able to
accurately type 40 words per minute with 98% accuracy.

Any form of Law, Fire,
or EMS experience desirable.

screens and various documents.
Ability to visually
observe multiple monitors, to include video surveillance, mapping and weather.
