The Village of Mundelein is accepting applications for an Investigative Aide at the Mundelein Police Department.  This is a part-time civilian position with a flexible work schedule, not to exceed 29 hours per week.

 

The position requires the ability to perform basic investigative and administrative duties to assist the Criminal Investigations Unit.

 

 

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

 

Applicants for the Investigative Aide position must meet the following minimum qualifications and requirements at the time of application:

  • Applicants must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in a sworn Law Enforcement position.

  • Applicants must possess a valid Illinois class D license, or comparable class license from another state free from incidents that may result in suspension or revocation.

  • Basic computer skills

 

Selection Process:

 

Each phase of the process is pass/fail and required to proceed to the next.

  • Completion of an employment application

  • A pre-screening of applicant

  • Personal Interviews

  • Character and background investigation

  • Skills testing

  • Pre-employment drug screen

 

Examples of expected duties include,

but are not limited to:

  • Communications with victims/witnesses for case updates

  • Conduct Background Investigations for a variety of Village licenses (liquor, taxi, solicitor, video gaming…)

  • Liaison with the Lake County State’s Attorney for subpoena, cases requiring special prosecution or background information.

  • Property/Evidence Custodian

  • Sex Offender Registration updates

  • Prepare Crime Bulletins, for internal and external dissemination

 

Rate of Compensation:

  • The hourly rate of pay for this position is $25.20

  • Pro-rated Vacation and Sick leave are provided
