The Oak Brook Police Department is currently seeking Auxiliary Police Officers. Auxiliary Police Officers will be assigned traffic control duties, assist in special events, assist full time police officers, and work outside special details.






Auxiliary Police Officers will be expected to be available for Village sponsored events especially Taste of Oak Brook, and other events requiring all departmental personnel.  Auxiliary Police Officers will be armed, conservators of the peace with full arrest powers only when on duty.  Uniforms and most equipment will be provided.


Auxiliary Police Officers staff a reoccurring 2 hour traffic detail Monday through Friday paid at a minimum 3 hour/$29.60 per hour rate and a Sunday 5 hour church detail paid at $29.60 per hour. Additional seasonal reimbursed and Village sponsored details are available throughout the year. Auxiliary police officers are required to attend mandatory paid quarterly in-service training.




  • Only those who graduated from a “Full Time” basic training academy and are certified as law enforcement officers or are eligible for a waiver of training from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board may apply.

  • Retired or separated in good standing from an Illinois law enforcement agency.

  • Valid Illinois driver’s license

  • Valid Illinois Firearms Owner Identification Card

  • United States Citizen

  • High school graduate or GED


    NOTE: Per Oak Brook Police Department Rules of Conduct:

    Members employed after September 1, 2014:

    a. Tattoos and brands must be naturally covered by the uniform of the day.

    b. The use of flesh-colored sleeves, bandages or make-up to conceal tattoos or brands is not permitted.

    c. Tattoos or brands on the legs are permitted if the tattoo or brand can be concealed by uniform pants.
