Product Specialist
Job Description:
Product Specialists are responsible for the care and support of OpticsPlanet,
Inc.’s most sophisticated customers. The position calls for the ability to
inform customers of the features and benefits of the most technically demanding
instruments represented in our vast product offerings. In addition, Product
Specialists share their passion for the products they service with other groups
within the company to help improve the overall customer experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
-
Achieve sales
and profitability targets for various product segments, including but not
limited to Tactical, Military, Law Enforcement, and Hunting.

Answer
incoming telephone and email inquiries regarding technical aspects of and
suitability for specific application type inquiries from prospective and
existing customers
-
Respond to
customer product and technical inquiries by phone, fax or e-mail.

Research and
qualify potential new customers and accounts
-
Assist
end-users in understanding and utilization of the equipment by providing
appropriate technical application expertise
-
Follow up with
suppliers and customers on product specifications, pricing and lead times
-
Respond to
questions from internal sales and customer service team members
-
Conduct
periodic product training seminars for team members and customers
-
Identify
suitable products to replace backordered products
-
Work with IT
and Web Development team to insure that technical product descriptions are
correct
-
Contribute
regularly to company user groups, discussion forums and blogs
-
Manage and be
accountable for a sample product account
Qualifications, Skills & Requirements:
-
Associates or
Bachelors Degree in a technical field (Optics, Electronics or Mechanics)
-
Minimum of 5
years combined experience in technical product sales or marketing
-
Knowledge of
principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling technical products
and services
-
Technical
abilities to conduct preventive maintenance, minor repairs, fault analysis,
customization and upgrades on customer equipment
-
Ability to
work consultatively with customers to identify and select the most appropriate
product for their particular application.

Strong
communication skills

Ability to
handle phone calls and email
-
Ability to
listen and understand as well as communicate information and ideas verbally
and in writing
-
Knowledge of
MS Office applications (such as MS Word, MS Excel), email programs, and
Internet browsers
-
Knowledge of
online Internet forums, chat, and Internet community etiquette is beneficial
Personal Characteristics:
Candidate must be extremely comfortable in interacting with end-users who
exhibit a wide range of sophistication levels. The position requires the
ability to act as the intermediary between the customer, Optics Planet and our
suppliers and vendors. The ultimate goal is to delight the end-user by
delivering the perfect tool to him or her in a timely and cost effective manner.
