Part-time Public Safety Dispatch Position

 

 

The Village of Romeoville is currently seeking qualified applicants to interview for a part-time 911 public safety dispatcher position.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position requires candidates to be able to receive routine and emergency calls relative to Police/Fire and EMS and accurately process these requests utilizing various radios, 9-1-1 call handling equipment and computer aided dispatch systems.

  • Operates and monitors various radio and recording systems

  • Ability to coordinate multiple responses between various agencies

  • Ability to maintain data accuracy utilizing multiple computer programs

  • General clerical duties, data entry

  • Monitors alarms

  • Monitors building security

  • Ability to function effectively under stress

  • Perform Matron Duties as needed

  • Scheduling flexibility

 

Acceptable experience:

  • Applicants must be 18 YOA

  • High School Graduate or equivalent

  • Applicants must have accurate typing skills

  • Previous experience with multi-line phone systems

  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment

  • Must have excellent oral/written communication skills 

  • LEADS Certification (preferred)

  • Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification (preferred)

  • Previous dispatch experience (preferred) 

 

Candidates must successfully complete the following:

  • Standardized testing

  • Oral Interview

  • Background Investigation

  • Polygraph

  • Drug screening and hearing test

 

Shifts:

 

Work shifts are 8 hours, a minimum of 16 hours per week; hours may vary to effectively meet operational needs.

 

Candidates are required to work a 40 hour work week during training to include rotating shifts and weekends.

 

 

Salary:

 

$21.41 per hour with benefits excluding health insurance
