COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICER

(Part-time, $16.00/hour)

Job Opportunities

 

 

Duties include working with the public, parking enforcement, ordinance investigations and enforcement, traffic accident reporting, animal control, school crossings, traffic control, assist with processing and prisoner checks and other related duties as required. This position will also be cross-trained to fill in for desk relief and as a back-up for limited Records functions.

 

This is a part-time uniformed civilian position within the police department. Average of 20 hours per week to include nights, holidays and weekends.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent

  • Some experience involving public contact

  • or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills

  • Prior experience is a plus

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Valid driverís license

  • Ability to acquire knowledge of the geography of the Village, the location of important buildings, and the street system

  • Ability to acquire basic knowledge of police procedures within a reasonable training period

  • Ability to greet the public in a professional manner both in person and by telephone

  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
