THE ST. CHARLES POLICE DEPARTMENT

Is seeking

Experienced Police Officers

to join our team.

 

 

St. Charles Offers:

  • Starting salary $81,506. Effective 5/01/16, top pay of $97,709 reached in four years (with current contract; note: contract negotiations are currently taking place for the next contract);

  • Specialty Positions: Criminal/Juvenile Investigators, Crime Prevention Officer, School Resource Officers, Canine Handler (1), Traffic Unit, Bicycle Officers, Field Training Officers, Less Lethal Instructors, Patrol Rifle Instructors, Traffic Crash Investigators, Task Force Assignments to North Central Narcotics, and Mobile Field Force – ILEAS.

 

To Qualify You Must:

  • Confirm status as a current, sworn, Illinois municipal police officer, Illinois state trooper, or Illinois county sheriff’s deputy who possesses State of Illinois certification by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. (Part-time certification as an Illinois law enforcement officer does not meet this requirement.)

  • Be a United States citizen.

  • Be at least 21 years old.

  • Education – Must possess an Associate’s Degree or 60 hours of college credit from an institution accredited by the US Department of Education.  Bachelor’s degree in police administration, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience – Current status as an Illinois Police Officer for one year after completion of a probationary period and currently in good standing in the Police Department in which the person serves or in laid-off status due to financial restraints only.  Also must possess substantially equivalent skills and abilities as a current City of St. Charles Police Officer.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Reside within a 40-mile radius of the intersection of Riverside Avenue and East Main Street within the 18-month probationary date of hire.

  • Must agree to comply with all requirements of the position and have the ability to pass all examination and training requirements.

  • Must submit at time of application: a copy of the following, to the extent applicable: a résumé; birth certificate; high school diploma or GED certificate; transcripts of higher learning; naval or military service board and discharge papers (DD-214/Copy 4); Illinois Standards & Training Board certificate.

  • Ability to furnish upon request: other professional licenses; training certificates; documents confirming work experience; employee evaluations; and any other employment related material as requested or required.
