The Village of Tinley Park Illinois, population 58,000 a full-service community located southwest of Chicago Illinois, seeks experienced police professionals as candidates to lead its Police Department consisting of 74 sworn officers, 14 certified Reserves Officers, 17 Auxiliary Officers and 44 full and part-time civilian employees. Tinley Parkís police department is recognized as a being professional, well trained, with employees dedicated to the communityís safety.
Tinley Park historically maintains a very low crime rate and a friendly hometown atmosphere, with beautiful neighborhoods and excellent schools. The Village offers a diverse housing stock, accessible transportation, excellent recreational opportunities and outstanding municipal services.
The Village is seeking candidates with strong communication and leadership skills, experience in Community/Problem Solving Policing, and with a proven record of visibility and participation in the community. Candidates must be committed to training, professional development and community engagement.
Candidates must possess a bachelorís degree in criminal justice, business administration, public administration, communications, or related field. Candidates should also have at least seven years experience in a law enforcement manager or leadership position or an equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the requisite skills and abilities to effectively perform the duties of Police Chief. A Masterís degree or advanced executive level training is also highly desired. Candidates must possess well developed interpersonal communication and public presentation skills.
Appointment is made by the Mayor of Tinley Park with approval by the Village Trustees.
Starting Salary Range:
$118,000 +/-, DOQ
Residency is required within 12 months of date of hire.
