supplements the full-time patrol force and is responsible for the protection of
life and property, prevention of crime, apprehension of criminals, and the
enforcement of laws and ordinances. A significant portion of time involves
public contact where discretion and tact is conscientiously exercised. Duties
are performed in accordance with police procedures, practices, standards,
policy, and regulations.
Patrols to observe,
prevent, or terminate unlawful acts.
Assists in transporting,
booking, and monitoring prisoners.
Responds to traffic or
other accidents. Secures scene; gives first aid and calls for medical
assistance. Collects information and completes reports.
Enforces parking restrictions, controls crowds, and prevents blockage of public
Operates radar unit;
issues warnings/citations. May conduct tests for intoxication.

Possession of Illinois
Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board certified police officer
Must have prior
experience as a police officer who left in good standing.
Must have a passion for
the police profession.
Must be willing to work
flexible hours (overnight, afternoon shifts and weekends and holidays).
Knowledge of applicable
federal, state, and local civil and criminal statutes and ordinances.
Candidates may not be
employed as a commissioned police officer at another governmental agency.
Ability to meet physical
Ability to exercise
independent judgment and render objective decisions.
Ability to write
certification and annually pass Firearms Course.
Have valid Class D
Specialized skills and
Spanish speaking skills helpful.
Schedule and Hours:
A variety of shifts,
including weekends and holidays with a minimum of 24 hours per month.
