The City of Waukegan has a population of 89,078 and is situated midway between Chicago and Milwaukee on the shores of Lake Michigan. Waukegan was incorporated in 1849 and is a rich, culturally diverse city.
The Waukegan Police Department's authorized strength is 151 sworn officers and 196 total employees. Our department offers opportunities for experience in all facets of law enforcement including: patrol, investigations, traffic, K9, gang intelligence, narcotics, and neighborhood policing. In addition, some Waukegan Police Officers are also assigned to regional task forces with DEA and ICE.
The Waukegan Police Department will be accepting applications for police officers.

Applicants will be required to attain a Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (P.OW.E.R.) test card dated between November 17, 2017 and November 17, 2018. This card can be obtained through:

Applicants must have proper ID (Driver’s License or State ID) and a P.O.W.E.R. test card (physical agility) from one of the above listed agencies (dated between November 17, 2017 and November 17, 2018) prior to being permitted to take the written examination.
