The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the City of Wilmington, Illinois
is accepting lateral appointment(s) to the position of police officer with the
Wilmington Police Department.
All Applicants
Must Meet the Following Minimum Requirements:
Full-time Illinois certified law enforcement
officer
Cumulative related service must
include a minimum of two years of uniform patrol duty as a commissioned
law enforcement officer and be certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement
Training Standards Board
Military police, detention correction
officer, reserve officer, university/campus police and/or federal law
enforcement personnel will not be considered as previous related
experience
At least 21 years of age, not to exceed the
age of 43, at time of application
U.S. Citizen
High school graduate or GED equivalent
Possess a valid driver’s license with good
driving record
Successfully complete an oral interview with
the Board of Fire and Police Commission
Successfully complete the P.O.W.E.R Test at
Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA). A time and
date will be scheduled by the Board of Fire and Police Commission for each
candidate
Successfully complete a background
investigation
Applicants will be required to fully
disclose all personnel matters, to include agreements and sealed files
Successfully complete a psychological
evaluation
Successfully complete a medical physical,
including drug and alcohol screening
