Applicants must meet the following requirements as of the date of application:

• Certification: Certified as a Law Enforcement Officer by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board (certification as a part-time law enforcement officer does not meet this requirement). Individuals who are not certified in Illinois may apply through the entry-level process. Information about entry-level testing may be obtained by contacting the secretary of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.

• Experience:  Prior law enforcement experience within the last 3 years.

• Age:  Must have passed 21^st birthday and be eligible to participate in a Village pension fund.

• Education:  High school education or equivalent thereof and an associate’s degree or at least 60 semester credit hours at an accredited college or university or demonstrate comparable work experience.

• Vision:  Correctable to 20/40, normal peripheral vision and able to distinguish colors

• Driver’s License:  Valid-in-force driver's license

• Pre-screening interview

• Oral Interview – Board of Fire & Police Commissioners

• Physical Agility Test

• Polygraph Examination

• Psychological Evaluation
