The Winnetka Police Department is seeking

Records and Communications Officers

for part-time employment.

 

Part-time Records and Communications Officers operate telecommunications equipment within the Police Department to dispatch emergency and non-emergency requests for service requiring frequent public contact under stressful conditions, works with minimal supervision and may be assigned to either records or communications activities as needed on a daily basis.  The position requires the ability to receive and process information, understand and accurately carry out verbal and written instructions, enunciate clearly, prioritize tasks, maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion and judgment in accordance with policies and procedures.  Applicants with bilingual skills are encouraged to apply.

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Age:

 

Must be 21 years of age or older

 

Education:

 

High School diploma or equivalent

 

Experience:

 

Prior public safety dispatch or police experience preferable, but not required.

 

Driver's License:

 

Valid driver's license

 

Physical Demands:

 

Ability to sit for extended periods of time, operate computer keyboards, controls and pointing devices, lift or move up to 25 lbs; hearing sufficient for average or normal conversations and to detect abnormal equipment operation and alarms.

 

Vision:

 

Audio-visual perception to make quick and accurate observations; color vision adequate to correctly identify red, yellow, blue and green.

 

Work Schedule:

 

20 - 24 hours weekly, although occasional emergency call-ins or shift extensions occur, work shifts are typically 8 hours in duration days and nights on weekdays, weekends and holidays.

 

Applicants must also be able to complete all other selection and training requirements of the position.
