The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking applicants to establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff with four current vacancies.


A Deputy Sheriff is responsible for patrolling the streets, roads and highways of Walworth County to prevent crime, preserve the peace, protect life and property and enforce laws and ordinances. This position will also assist the public, direct and control traffic, investigate and enforce traffic laws, conduct preliminary investigations on reported crimes, control public gatherings and render first aid.



Requirements for consideration as a Deputy Sheriff are:

  • 60 College credits (Current students that will meet the 60 college credit requirement by the end of the current enrolled semester may apply with proof of current credits attained and current enrolled credits.)

    - OR -

    An Associate's degree in Police Science

    - OR -

    Two years full-time law enforcement experience with current LESB certification

  • Valid Driver’s License with a driving record which is free of any serious or numerous minor traffic violations

  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age or older on the last day of filing applications

  • No felony convictions unless reversed or completely pardoned
