LATERAL TRANSFER POLICE OFFICER

The Oswego Police Department is seeking experienced police officers to join our team as we look to establish a Lateral Transfer Police Officer Eligibility List (Register). Applicants shall already be Certified as Illinois Law Enforcement Officers and are responsible for enforcing all State and Local Laws and upholding the U.S. and Illinois Constitutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• State of Illinois Law Enforcement Certification from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board as a law enforcement officer (part-time certification as a law enforcement officer does not meet this requirement)
• Applicants shall have at least two years experience as a fulltime sworn municipal officer, Illinois State Trooper or County Sheriff’s Deputy and employed for one year since completion of a probationary period
• Currently in good standing in the police department in which the person serves or in laid-off status due to financial restraints only
• Possess the knowledge, skills, abilities and level of experience required pursuant to the call for qualified lateral transfer applicants
• Must be a United States Citizen
• Must have a Valid Driver’s License and are at least 21 years old
• Bachelor or Associate Degree in any field of study (OR 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university) OR those who qualify for a waiver due to active military service pursuant to statute, by April 20, 2021
• Pass written examination, oral interview, in-depth background investigation, which includes a polygraph
• After conditional job offer, must pass Medical (including drug screen, hearing and eye exam) and Psychological examinations
