Position Details

The Bensenville Fire Protection District #2 is currently seeking qualified individuals for the position of permanent Part-time Firefighter/Paramedics and Single Role Paramedics.

Candidates must:

• Be at least 21 years of age
• Have high school diploma or GED
• Be IDPH licensed EMT-P with ability to test into Good Sam EMS system
• Current CPAT and Ladder preferred
• Have valid Illinois Driver's License
• Not have felony convictions

Job Description:

• Candidates will be responsible for district ambulances
• Candidates will be responsible for patient care and completing all necessary patient care report forms
• Candidates if qualified will perform interior structural firefighting operations
• Candidates will perform exterior structural firefighting operations
• Candidates will be required to become familiar with district vehicles, operations, and Good Sam SOPs
• Work as part of the Districts Pub Education Program
• Candidates will report to the Battalion Chief while on duty
• Other duties as assigned

Benefits:

• Single role medics who have completed at least 30 24-hour shifts will be eligible for sponsorship to an Illinois fire academy. The sponsorship only applies to taking the state exams to complete certification from the fire academy, not a financial sponsorship to the academy.
• Starting pay is $25/hour, depending on experience
• Candidates will work 24-hour shifts, which will be filled by a shift bidding; If not able to work 24-hour shifts, 12-hour shifts are also available 
• Free Continuing Education Programs (IDPH and OSFM certification classes)
• 457B Retirement program
• Preference points awarded when testing for a commission firefighter/paramedic position

No current IAFF members are eligible for this position.
