  Lateral candidates shall be considered entry-level employees in all other ways.

  Patrol officers work 12 hours shifts which provides them with a three-day weekend every other week.

LATERAL ENTRY - POLICE OFFICER

VILLAGE OF MONTGOMERY, ILLINOIS

The Village of Montgomery is a growing community quietly nestled along both banks of the Fox River in Kane and Kendall counties in Illinois, just south of Aurora and about 40 miles west of Chicago.

The Montgomery Police Department is made up of 33 sworn officers who provide protection and policing services to over 20,000 residents and businesses within the Village limits. Our department strives hard each day to provide exceptional public service, demonstrate community pride, and maintain public safety throughout our community.

If you are currently or were recently employed as a full-time (non-probationary), certified law enforcement officer with at least 2 years of experience and are interested in becoming a Police Officer for the Village of Montgomery, IL we encourage you to apply at our agency.

Applications are being accepted:

March 22, 2021 through May 21, 2021 

Applicants must be:

• At least 23 years of age at the time of appointment
• Currently or recently employed as a full time (non-probationary)
• Illinois certified law enforcement officer with at least 2 years of experience

All lateral transfer entry process candidates must provide documentation to show that they are currently or recently were employed as a full-time certified Peace Officer in the State of Illinois. Applicants must provide documentation that they have fulfilled the requirements of the Illinois Police Training Act.

Lateral transfer entry candidates who meet these requirements and are selected for entry will not be required to take an entry level written exam or entry level physical agility exam. Lateral transfer entry candidates will be required to complete all other phases of the entry process before an offer of employment.

This process will also include:

• Application and experience verification
• Oral Interviews
• Background Investigation
• Polygraph exam
• Psychological exam
• Medical exam

Applicants will be required to complete the application and resume with all training documents and certifications prior to the close of business on May 21st, 2021, at 4:30 PM at the Montgomery Police Department.

Once hired, the applicant will be required to successfully complete a field training program and 18-month probation period. All non-probationary Montgomery Patrol Officers are represented by the Metropolitan Alliance of Police (MAP) union.
