Part-Time Police Records Assistant

The Village of Itasca, Illinois is seeking two experienced part-time Police Records Assistants.

The Records Assistant is a civilian employee under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief of Administration.  The position is responsible for the processing and filing of all police reports, traffic citations, and municipal ordinance violations in the Village of Itasca. The Records Assistant is expected to perform in a courteous and professional manner in all dealing with the public, department personnel, and to comply with the orders, policies, procedures, and rules and regulations of the department. 

General Responsibilities: 

• Maintain the security and confidentiality of all records and documents.
• Processes traffic citations, police and accident reports.
• Perform data entry into the Records Management System and CJIS computer systems.
• Prepare transmittals to the Dupage County Circuit Clerk’s Office for all arrests and citations.
• Manage LEADS responsibilities, including driver’s license abstracts and criminal history records from local, state and federal authorities.
• Process requests for records, expungements, and reports from both public and private entities, including copying and forwarding arrest reports to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office and Village Prosecutor and file all work as needed for the circuit clerk and the local prosecutor.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred candidates will have experience in working in a police department in the Records Division.

Applicants must, within the first year of employment become a State Certified LEADS Operator.

The part-time positions works up to 28 hours a week during the hours of 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM as determined by the needs of the department.
