This position requires the Candidate Physical Ability Test with ladder certification (CPAT with Ladder) dated within the last 12 months at the time of application. The department requires the candidate PHQ and Public Safety Self Assessment (PSSA). You can access these questionnaires through your candidate account. The Huntley Fire District works a standard 24 / 48 shift schedule.
The Huntley Fire Protection District is one of the largest fire districts in McHenry and Kane County. Over 5,400 Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Service, and Rescue calls are handled by our five fire stations and 69 sworn personnel and 30 part time firefighters, paramedics and EMT. Our firefighters work with the state of the art apparatus and equipment which is supported by full time staff members in EMS, Training, and Mobile Integrated Health. The District also maintains several specialty teams which include Technical Rescues, Sonar, Hazardous Materials, and Fire Investigation. The District is a member of MABAS Division 5 and Division 4/5 Lake and McHenry County Specialized Response Team. The District places a high degree of importance on the customer service it provides to both internal and external customers. Huntley Fire Protection District also interacts with the community by providing a variety of programs such as slip, trip and fall education, hosting a Fire Cadet and Intern Program, and providing CPR instruction classes. The Huntley Fire Protection District offers the best opportunities for employment and advancement in the Fire Service.
Serving Huntley / Algonquin / Lake-in-the-Hills / Hampshire / Gilberts / Unincorporated McHenry and Kane Counties and a 9-mile stretch of Interstate 90.
Firefighter candidates, at the time of application must provide current certification that he or she has successfully passed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) with Ladder Endorsement, as licensed and approved by the International Association of Firefighters and shall have a date not to exceed one year.
