A $25.00 non-refundable administrative and processing fee is required before an application is considered complete.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

Have been employed, whether currently or in the past, for at least two (2) years and but no more than 10 years, non-probationary, sworn law enforcement officer by a Federal, State, County or local law enforcement agency.
Applicants must be in good standing with the agency in which they served.
Must have completed the State of Illinois certified police officer training board requirements.
Be a United States citizen.
Must be 21 years of age and less than 35 years of age at the time of application. Applicants who are currently police officers, or have previously been police officers, and are less than 42 years of age, are exempt from the 35-year age limit.
Education: High school education and at least 60 credit hours from an accredited College or University
Experience: Must have previously been a sworn Police Officer in any municipal, county, university, railroad or state or federal law enforcement agency, provided they are certified or have the ability to be certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and have been previously employed as a law enforcement officer within the last two (2) years.
Character: Must have no felony convictions, a clean driving history and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
Residency: Must reside within Cook, DuPage or Will County.
Valid Driver's License.
Must agree to comply with all requirements of the position and have the ability to pass all examination and training requirements, including but not limited to: background investigation, psychological and medical examination, etc.
Ability to furnish upon request, a copy of the following: a resume; professional licenses; training certificates; naval or military service board and discharge papers (DD-214/Copy 4); documents confirming work experience; birth certificate; high school diploma or GED certificate; last two employee evaluations, if applicable; two police reports demonstrating best work and any other employment related material as requested or required.
