The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District is currently building an eligibility list for the position of Career Firefighter/Paramedic.

At least 4 hirings are expected to come from this eligibility list, with a possibility of additional hirings.

The final eligibility list will be valid for 2 years.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The District, located in central McHenry County, encompasses an 81 square mile jurisdiction approximately 60 miles northwest of the City of Chicago. Operating out of three stations, WFRD serves a residential population of approximately 36,000 and protects a mix of residential, light industrial and commercial development by providing effective and efficient fire protection, fire prevention, emergency medical services, and specialized response to emergency incidents. The District employs 55 commissioned and non-commissioned firefighting personnel and responded to approximately 4,600 emergency incidents in 2020.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AT TIME OF APPLICATION:

• At least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age as of July 26, 2021. (70ILCS 705/16.06 or 65ILCS 2/10-10-2.1.6)
• Valid Driver's License
• Illinois Firefighter Basic Operations (Firefighter II)
• EMT-B Certification (Please note: you must have your EMT-P license at time of conditional offer)
• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• No felony convictions and good moral character
• No residency requirements 

SELECTION PROCESS:

The selection process includes:

• Oral interview
• Background investigation
• Psychological exam
• Medical exam
