The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of New Lenox is now accepting applications for the position of: Entry Level Police Officer

Testing is being conducted for anticipated hiring and to establish a new Eligibility Register for future hiring needs.

The New Lenox Police Department proudly serves its residents and visitors each and every day.  Each member of the Department is committed to providing a high level of law enforcement services to residents, businesses, and visitors.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen and/or an alien admitted for permanent residence and who can produce evidence of intention to become a citizen of the United States.
• Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.
• Age Requirement:  Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (7/14/21).  Applicants must be under the age of 35 years on 7/14/2021 and at such time as the Final Eligibility Register is posted. unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10 – 2. 1-6 which provides, in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a certified full-time police officer for a municipality in the United States.
• Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement and must have completed a minimum of 30 semester credit hours at an accredited college or university.
• Residence:  At this time the Village of New Lenox does not have an established residency requirement.
• Vision: Must possess normal peripheral vision and vision must be correctable to a minimum of 20/40.

There is a $45.00 non-refundable application fee.  Applications are NOT available at the New Lenox Police Department or Village Hall.
